About CIVIL Department
- Civil Engineering is an essential foundation for any developing or developed country as it caters to all the basic needs of mankind, ranging from minimum requirements to high sophistication. Without Civil Engineering, development in other engineering fields would be impossible. Civil Engineering provides infrastructure that paves the way for other engineering subjects like Electrical, Electronics, and Communication to be developed. During natural calamities, the efforts taken in this field alone can prove critical to the success of other aspects of Engineering.
- In 2003, the Civil Engineering Department at this institution began with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. Two batches of our students passed B.E. Civil in 2007 & 2008 with 100% results. The department has experienced staff to handle Civil Engineering subjects, and Anna University has ranked the Civil Department as first among all other affiliated colleges. Two of our students, M.R.Priyadharshini & Purnima Swain, stood at the 5th and 36th rank, respectively, in the Anna University Examination.
- The department has exceptional laboratory facilities, including the Hydraulics lab, Structural Engineering lab, Survey lab, Soil Mechanics lab, Environmental lab, and CAD lab. The Civil Engineering laboratories have even been appreciated by inspection officials. Students regularly present papers in other colleges, and the project works for final-year students are selected in such a way that they are practicable and immediately applicable in the field.
- In the academic year 2008-09, the Civil Department received NBA Accreditation. In the year 2009-2010, the final-year students obtained a 100% pass percentage. The department continues to be an essential aspect of this institution, producing successful graduates who go on to make significant contributions to society.
Vision
The Department of Civil Engineering provides comprehensive teaching, and consultancy services that equip our students with the technical knowledge and professional skills required for the practice of Civil Engineering.
Mission
The Department of Civil Engineering offers technical advancement by
- Providing a deep understanding of materials, structures, and systems to create safe and efficient buildings, bridges, and roads.
- Providing interactive teaching methods to encourage critical thinking and problem- solving skills.
- Engaging partnerships with other academic institutions, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to share expertise, resources, and knowledge.
- Providing internships, in-plant training, and other forms of experiential learning that give students real-world experience and practical skills that they can use in their future careers.
- Creating a skilled and productive workforce that drives innovation and growth in the field of civil engineering.
